"My Brookside lodge stay was pleasant. First of all, the property is older and it shows: water stains on the ceiling, peeling paint in some places, outdated furniture, etc. Looking past this, I had everything I needed: good location, clean room, acceptable beds. I did not use my balcony that overlooked a peaceful brook nor the fireplace. Breakfast was a typical southern-style offering of scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, three types of cereal, bagels, make-your-own waffles, yogurt, milk, juice, and the weakest coffee I can remember drinking. Breakfast is in a large conference room with big round tables. Be prepared to sit with other people at these tables.
Check-in was easy. The front desk personnel were friendly and pleasant. I received a gift bag with two bottles of water and two apples. The cleaning staff was very nice and helpful. They make up the beds each day and provide fresh towels.
A trolley runs from the lodge to downtown Gatlinburg which is close enough for walk to, which I chose to do. There are a couple of restaurants close by and food can be delivered from several places right to the room.
I felt safe, well-accommodated, and well located. Don't expect a high-end stay in a luxury hotel. If you are satisfied with quaint decor, a babbling brook, friendly staff, clean rooms, and safety, this is a great place to consider. I would stay here again. Tip: book a deluxe room."
