"Superb hotel in a great location. Very clean bedrooms and all areas of the hotel. The breakfast was brilliant, with lots of choice. But the best thing to me are the staff, who are all VERY helpful and cheerful. You can have a lovely building, rooms, food etc, but if the staff aren't pleasant then it's not good. I have to say ALL the staff members i met were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. VERY LOVELY HOTEL. "

"I enjoyed my stay at Porto Mare and highly recommend it. It is conveniently located in the area with many restaurants. The bus stop is in front of the hotel and you can hop on a bus to the centre of Funchal, or take a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery on your way. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful with all the information you need. "

"Hotel was lovely usually stay at the Porta Mare but tried Eden Mar so we could use kitchenette on our 2 week stay. Just as good room was very big & you still use all facilities. Would recommend, clean & service & bar area excellent "

"Immaculately kept residence in a very good area with excellent transport links into Funchal centre. Very friendly and helpful staff and the rooms are very comfortable, spacious and have great views. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the waiting staff were helpful and pleasant and the main pool and pool areas were spacious with plenty of sun beds available. Very enjoyable stay and we would love to return one day in the near future."

"Good hotel and new but the service was not as expected however it is good. The breakfast area was really good however the quality of food is not as good as it should be. Ordered french toast and was below average with a layer of fried eggs on it, and tried the pancake and taste like eggs too!!"
