Great staff and hotel! Checking in was easy and fast.

I loved staying at this pub/inn/hotel. The people who work there are friendly and welcoming. My room was comfortable and quiet. The pub was fun and social and the food was excellent. I will definitely be back.

Quiet with parking. The restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. The room was ok. We almost locked ourselves in because the door handle fell off.

Very nice room ("Guy Fawkes")- comfy bed, great bathroom. The hotel is nicely appointed, great, quirky interior decor. The location could not be better for attractions and dining. One caveat- those with arthritis may find the doors a problem. The knobs are round, slick and somewhat difficult to turn. Plus, the doors are heavy.

Overall a pleasant stay. Staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable and nicely outfitted. Breakfast choices were limited, but the quality was good. Parking was easy and located in an easily walkable location about 1/2 hour from the castle. We will be returning for another stay in a few weeks as there is more we want to see in the city.

Waggon and Horses is a charming Bed and Breakfast. The rooms are located over a (200? 300? 500? year old) pub, although not *directly* over the pub so that there was no problem with sounds coming up from below. The room was comfortable with a good radiant heat and windows that opened for fresh air. The beds were comfortable and the ensuite clean and functional. The slanted beamed ceiling and overall charm of the room and building (and York itself) made us want to stay an extra night. ...

The stay was wonderful and we were treated with personal care. The only negative was that our room needed a little bit of repairs, given that the building is several hundred years old. Everything worked fine, but there were a few creaks in the floor that were in need of attention. The issue was limited to our room. The rest of the building appeared to be in great shape. By the time a reader sees this comment, the issue may have already been taken care of.

Good hotel near center city with lots of tourists and York train station

Clean and very comfortable room. Staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

Basic clean room. Fine for people like me who just want a clean room with a shower to go exploring. Pretty noisy but I’m a heavy sleeper so wasn’t bothered. Nice folks, very helpful and responsive.

Close to everything

While the room was a bit small, the location was great. You can walk to almost any of the many old-town attractions. There is a decent restaurant/bar below the hotel. The staff was all very friendly. And, as a bonus, there is free secure parking on the lot just behind the hotel (you enter through a gate that goes under the 2nd floor). It's a bit loud until 11:00 (on the weekend) and then very quiet afterward. Despite the crowded room, we loved it and would go back.
