"We had a decent sized twin room that was very comfortable, but a bit on the “smallish” size since we were traveling with 2 big suitcases. The hotel is in good location, with easy access to public transportation, shopping, dining and some top sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in 2 hours early, which was a nice gesture. A major plus is that they had coin operated laundry rooms on 2 floors. Another plus was that in the evenings, 6 days a week, they had a Maiko perform a couple of dances in the hotel lobby plus allowed guests the opportunity to take photos with her. They also have live music available on Friday evenings. This is definitely a hotel I would return to on a future visit to Kyoto. "

The view from the ceiling to floor window was of the rooftops and mountains in the distance and at night an urban scape of the lights of Kyoto. Great amenities and great helpful staff. "We were a little surprised how well this hotel was rated. It wasn't bad, just not as exceptional as the ratings reflect. There were only 2 pillows in the room, and when I ask for more the staff informed me there were none. At a hotel? No pillows? The room was clean enough, but not spotless. There were dirty spots on the carpet and visible dust on furniture. However, it's not a bad place. So it's tricky to rate. The location is great and it's quiet and safe. The room is spacious for Japanese standards and the shower is amazing. It was wonderful having our own washing machine. There was no iron however."
