One of the quirkiest places I’ve stayed, it was warm (electric heater and underfloor heating make it toasty) and the bathroom was so warm with the heated towel rail. "The room and the service was excellent. Fully stocked room and very comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious and everything we needed was provided. Sharon provided everything we needed during the stay, and made us felt very welcome. There are only two rooms within the tea rooms which made it feel very personal staying. The tea room is located in a lovely village that has 3 pubs and has some really nice walks. We have even booked to return next year."

"I’ve stayed here before but this time I was in the new Farmhouse. The room I was in was very spacious, quiet and beautifully appointed. The evening meal and breakfast was lovely. Well done on improving an already very high standard"

"It’s difficult, because I can understand the wide range of reviews. The fact that there are no staff on site, coupled with an unusual door access system, makes thinking of this as a hotel (never mind the star rating) somewhat of a stretch. Having said that, a mobile number was provided if needed. Our room was clean (although somewhat dated) and had all the equipment we expected. One big issue that we only subsequently learned about was that some of the rooms did not have an en suite. Ours did (with a much-appreciated heated towel rail), but I would have been very annoyed if we had been allocated a room without. Make sure of your room number! The location is excellent. Parking is available, but limited, so don’t be the last to arrive. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and felt we had good value for money."

"We had a huge room with a comfy bed, sofa, refreshments and clean bathroom. Dinner on our first night, following a two hundred mile journey, was very welcome if a little pricey. Nevertheless portions were huge and the food was delicious. We sat in the bar after dinner simply to chill. Breakfast is a help yourself buffet. We had a view of the canal complete with views of ducks, sheep and narrow boats. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Would recommend."

"Our room was a little small, but it had everything we needed and was clean. We have stayed here several times and recommend Stone Trough to anyone travelling in the area. The food is really good and many people just call in to eat. At a weekend they have to give you an allotted time for breakfast, in order to get everyone in! Breakfast and evening meal were excellent and staff are very obliging and friendly"
