Amazing property! The staff were so kind. I lost my glasses off of the balcony and the next day staff searched to find them for me! The onsen on the balcony was so wonderful! A very spacious room with nice amenities. Great view of lake Biwa. Would highly recommend!

This was a beautiful ryokan to stay. The staff are very helpful to english speaking visitors and can accommodate very well. This ryokan offers you to dine in an intimate setting so you're in a separate room with your guests/partner. Amazing! The property offered a shuttle ride from the station. We were greeted with a cup of tea. We were also taken to our room and with assistance and given a thorough tour of the space and the services that the hotel provided. The property has a beautiful view of the lake. The room was spacious for our group. Highly recommend the meals offered for dinner and breakfast. The onsen was also clean and spacious.

Quick breakdown, I only had one week to book a hotel and I was looking for a true Japanese B&B. Staff was amazing and very nice. Location is 10 minutes (car ride) from JR station. When you get to the station, ask the person in the station to call for your hotel ride. DO NOT attempt to go up that hill with luggage. There is not a walkway. I cannot recommend this place enough! It was so relaxing, beautiful, and the staff was incredible! They offer traditional and local breakfast and dinner that rivaled Michelin star restaurants! It was our first Ryokan experience but definitely will not be our last now. Such an incredible place!

My friend and I were hesitant to stay here, because it was off from the central Kyoto. BUT, coming here was a great choice we made. This is the ideal Ryokan. We had an excellent stay. The family was so wonderful. They took great care of us and were so sweet. Breakfast was delicious. The ryokan was beautiful and felt very traditional. Would highly recommend!

A very nice place to stay for vacation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is very spacious and clean. Just walk one block to the bus station and two block to the subway station. The buses are reaching to the temples and Kyoto station. No need to transfer. Very convenient.

Me and my friend stayed here one night and we were completely blown away by just about everything this place had to offer. The grounds are small and intimate but meticulously taken care of. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly. If you call them in advance, they can pick you up at the Ohara bus station for no extra charge, as well as take you back to the bus station after your stay. We had enjoyed a Kaiseki dinner here with a group in May, 2010, and wanted to come back to Kyoto and spend more time. We stayed in the Hanare (the Satsuki Cottage, a separate, traditional Japanese building) for five nights. You sleep on futons, they fill up the wood bath every afternoon, and you can wear your Yukata to dinner. They fed us a Kaiseki (chef's whim) breakfast each morning and a Kaiseki dinner each evening. This Ryokan is in an excellent area- very convenient to temples , restaurants. The staff is the most courteous and helpful staff I have ever met and we travel quite a bit . We stayed as a family of 4 very comfortably in a traditional room . When we return to Kyoto we will definitely stay here again .

Absolutely stay here when in Kyoto. This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Japan. It is an authentic experience. Dinner and breakfast were great (though they may be tough for a picky eater). But most importantly, the staff was amazing. We have never felt more welcomed by a hotel. They became our friends. We will be back!

The place was great. Best thing was the staff. They were so nice and accommodating. I was late for my check in but the staff helped me by waiting to still serve me dinner when I got there. They were waiting out front for me and helped me out all with everything. They were the nicest people. The facilities were great too. Food was delicious. The room was lovely. The onsen was relaxing. I'm very happy with my stay there.

Was happy to accept our bags early so we would walk around, and was extremely friendly throughout the experience. Beautiful, spacious and comfortable room with a nice gender separated bath a few blows down. The traditional breakfast she served was delicious and made the experience that much more authentic. Would stay here again and absolutely recommend it to anyone!
