Great place for solo or couples, staff was helpful and even though I came early I was able to lock up my bags before my check in, bring cash for the added tax or just pay with card (extra fee). The owner Tomi is extremely attentive and will provide you with a multitude of services within and around the guest house. The traditional Japanese rooms are located on the second floor up a VERY STEEP set of stairs, keep that in mind for luggage and beverages. The hostel is in a quiet neighborhood, the atmosphere inside the hostel feels relaxing and is in good condition. What makes this hostel special is the host, he made the stay in this hostel an absolute pleasure! If I would return to Kyoto I would go out of my way to stay at this hostel again.

This is a beautiful property and a great spot for Arashiyama! Within walking distance to a lot of the main sights but still off the beaten track. Very cute and well designed. Most of the other guests were incredibly respectful and friendly, the host was phenomenal. Piece Hostel Sanjo was a great place to stay. There was free access to wi-fi, free breakfast, clean facilities, and very helpful staff. It was in a good neighborhood, close to the markets, shopping, and subways. If you wanted to, you could walk a mile or two to get to the bigger and more well known part of the city. It was a great place to stay. I would totally come back again.

We stayed three night at this Hostel’s private room for two so happily that we have recommended all our friends to look nowhere but this place when they visit Kyoto. Close to Nijo castle, everything so clean and staff really care about us!

This guesthouse is absolutely lovely. Conveniently located, comfortable, and has a really helpful and friendly staff. Would absolutely stay again. My only criticism is that it was difficult to communicate with them prior to our check in (we had some changed travel plans). They don't seem to check their email (or answer their phone?). Having said that, they were very kind about our early arrival when we did arrive and everything worked out.

This was the cutest hostel above a cafe/bar. Breakfast was delicious and we were close to walk to many of the sights and train stations. Would definitely stay here again.

The view was amazing and the property could not be beat! The staff was so kind, the village is right on the beach, the restaurant is delicious and the bar is outstanding. Truly worth visiting just to stay here. So amazing!

Friendly staff

Couldn’t have picked a better hostel. K’s house is close to the train station and in a nice, quiet, walkable area. It’s affordable and has good amenities. They let us store our luggage before and after check-in for free. My boyfriend and I stayed in a single room with a shared bathroom on the 4th floor.
