"Check in was easy and location was good, thise are the only positives. The property is extremely dated and dirty. The furnishings in communal areas were torn, threadbare, stained, dirty and smelly. The carpets were dirty, covered in dog and human hair. There was mould above the shower and dirt and mould under the sink. The areas around the toilets were soiled with rusted old urine splashes. 10/10 Excellent

"We were upgraded to a beautiful bedroom that was spotlessly clean. The staff were professional and helpful particularly the receptionists, bar and restaurant staff. Our room was serviced perfectly every day and the young man who helped us with our room was kind and attentive. The food we ate, breakfast and dinner was cooked well, tasted fresh and full of flavour. We didn't eat lunch there but this was because we were out every day. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, it's located in the centre of town and has so much character, we would definitely stay there again. Thanks to everyone at The George!"

"The main house, gardens and grounds were excellent and well maintained. Our room in the Mews was very large with french windows opening on to a shared patio, essential in this heat. There was no air conditioning, or fan and our phone in the room did not work. We were supplied with a faulty portable fan, but in the end the open doors provided enough cooling air. The shower was superb with enough hot water whenever we needed it. We could have done with a table and chairs to sit and organise paperwork etc. Breakfast was good with a cold continental buffet and a hot cooked selection as extra. On the second morning they were short staffed and we were given a refund on our breakfast for the delay. The dining room in the house was lovely with exposed stone and wooden timbered ceiling and great views of the garden. In the evening we ate at the Spa which was very good with excellent service. The spa facilities were well maintained and we enjoyed the outdoor pool in the garden and the outdoor spa."
