"Having stayed on one of hottest days of year the air conditioning in bedrooms was extremely welcome and efficient. I thought uk king size beds would be standard in hotels. Not used to a double bed but it was clean and comfortable. Bathroom spotless but struggled to access the shower over bath as you had to step in onto slope at end of bath. If you have even a minor disability then try to get an accessible room.. The pool was a good size and well maintained as was gym. Good sized pool towels....

"I stayed during a heatwave and the property had no AC making the room impossible to sleep in. The room was also infested with mosquitos and tiny bugs, in the morning had multiple bites across my skin and had an extremely uncomfortable night. The second night I decided to leave as it was pointless to try to sleep and just took the earlier coach home. Staff were very kind, however there was nothing they could do as the hotel is just not in good enough condition."

"Expected more from Holiday Inn. Hotel is very tired looking and needs a re-furb not just pretty paintings on the wall. There is a parking charge of £12 which I think is ridiculous-there is nowhere else to park your car so you have no choice. I expect it for City parking but this is Basildon!!! I booked thru Expedia and was advised breakfast included but apparently it was not. So far I’ve booked thru Expedia 3 times and twice I’ve been disappointed. Expedia you need to get your act together....

"So it took me about 20 minutes to get into the property because they don’t have staff in on a Sunday- the intercom doesn’t then allow entry into the building. After a long wait and conversation that basically made me feel like an inconvenience for staying there- eventually I get into the building and at this point I have a surprise pre-authorisation to do of £70 where I have to read my card details to a lady who clearly has random people in the room with her- not thrilled about that. "The room was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable, although the room was small, and if you ended up stuck inside, you’d quickly become claustrophobic. Likewise, the picture used to advertise the hotel is not a picture of any public or restaurant space in the hotel building, but a picture of the pub/restaurant 150 feet away.
