The Royal Hotel

8/10 Good

"Amazing old building, wonky floors everywhere, proper faded Victorian grandeur, however... The room was roasting, even with a fan and the pillows were hideous, like trying to sleep with your head on a rock,after one night and stiff neck and shoulders in the morning I went to Poundland and bought 2 pillows so I could get some sleep."

"I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It was very quiet and peaceful and enjoyed sitting outside at the rear. There's no problem parking. The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The only criticism I have is, about the shower room. It needs something to put your toiletries on. There is a small glass shelf above the wash basin, but that is taken up by the complimentary toiletries and 2 glasses. Even without them it's only a small shelf. I had to put my toilet bag on the floor. The breakfast was enjoyable. Not a large buffet, but it was sufficient. The full breakfast was very nice. I would stay again."

"Enjoyed our one night stay while visiting to see a concert, we were in room 208 sea view, recently had a bathroom update by the look of it very clean. Have to appreciate this is a very old hotel and looks like parts are starting to get refurbished which is good. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that."
