"This was my first time in a hostel, so I went in not really knowing what to expect. The building is centrally located so it was very easy to walk around the city and get to places. The staff were friendly, and the building was quite clean. Because it’s right in the city, it does get very loud at night with people partying on the street. I was staying there for 6 days and wasn’t expecting to have so many different roommates but for the most part the people were respectful. One downside is the bed...

I had a private room with shared bathroom and the room was a decent size and the bathroom was very clean. "Definitely exceeded our expectations. Although its is a cozy beaten up hostel, with shared bathroom/WC and kitchen, we felt like we were home. Meadows Park is nearby, we could walk pretty much everywhere. Reception/crew was not engaging much. Nonetheless, great value for money. "

"I enjoy every time I use youth hostels in Scotland. They are affordable with nice and modern decor. The Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel was just what we needed for a weekend break, just minutes away from the city center, restaurants and shops. Plenty of parking and this is free on weekends. Staff were very nice and excellent customer service. Would definitely come back."

"A great historical property which is not too far from the main roads. A converted church, so voices tend to carry. Great for solo travellers because you can get a room for one person. Bathrooms have all amenities, but could use a larger floor mat outside of shower, floors were a little slippery. Inside main quarters, beautiful stained glass and ceiling features. Front desk was very helpful. "

"The property was right at the bus stop, making it easy to get to the city center and elsewhere. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, and communication with the host was frequent and clear. The kitchen had a stove and microwave but no toaster, frying pan, or spatula to turn foods. We made do with what was there. Overall, it was a good stay."

"Photos on the web site are of a modern building not the dump we were in. For the price I would at least expect basic necessities like towels but nothing provided. Not even a wardrobe to hang clothes. This is for those who really prefer to rough it."

"It's a unique concept but wish the property was more well cared for and that they don't cram that many people in the space. It feels a bit like a slum. Twelve people, six bunk beds are a lot for such a tight space. The room smells. And bathroom + kitchen + common space get so overused that it seems to be always dirty"
