Harbour View Fisherman’s Cottage, great location - with Parking

"Had a lovely stay at Tradewinds for a weekend away. First time going to Brixham and it was lovely and because of the colour of the cottage was always able to find the cottage when walking around the fishing town. The cottage itself was clean, well presented, had milk in the fridge as well as tea bags and coffee- very much appreciated. The beds were comfy and though it was hot due to the weather, the master had a fan and we opened the windows for a nice cool air. The cottage is over 4 floors, ground having the kitchen being on the ground floor which meant we were able to go down and cook breakfast without disturbing the rest of the guests. While the kitchen was modern, the house was very cosy and loved the fisherman decor and painted in light colour's which was great when the sun rose because the house lit up.The host- Jo- was informative and avaliable to contact- the week of our arrival sent clear information on the property as well as detailed instructions for the parking spot. The parking spot is small but that wasnt a problem for our car.The hosts also have a website about the property and things to do in Brixham which was also avaliable in the house when we arrived with information such as wifi password and possible numbers we may need.Myself and my friends all have agreed to come back and stay either together or with our families, had an amazing stay."

"The cottage was absolutely wonderful. It was a little difficult to find at first, but once we arrived, we knew it was worth it. What an incredible location and what a view! From our bedroom window, we looked straight across the harbour at the colourful houses on the opposite side. The cottage consists of two former fishermen’s cottages, which probably once housed entire families. The added conservatory and kitchen make it even more inviting, and the terrace is simply perfect. We had beautiful weather and could easily have spent the whole day just relaxing at the cottage, but of course we also explored the area. We enjoyed wonderful walks, visited Greenway (Agatha Christie’s house) and Coleton Fishacre, and played some great rounds of golf. This was a truly special place, and I have a feeling we’ll definitely be back one day."

"2nd stay here, lovely place. Only negative was a coat hanger that had been thrown on ledge outside our window that we had to look at as we admired the view and no mattress protector on the bed. Towels were poor but we will still return. Beautiful bed and bathroom Even had a regular visit from a seagull."

"We were a little concerned about the cleanliness of this property before we booked due to previous reviews but we contacted the company and were reassured all was in hand. This indeed was the case as the cleanliness was more than adequate. The view from the living area is amazing and light with triple aspect 2nd to none. The 3 of us were very comfortable, great beds and bedding and towels of a good quality. The location of the property is fantastic - you couldn’t get better! There was no visitor book so couldn’t leave any tips which was a shame. Overall lovely property."

"Despite the complex instructions to find the cottage, it was fairly easy. (A quick look beforehand on Google Street View helped!) Found it best to park the car first in the Freshwater car park as you exit the harbour up the hill. This is a long stay car park costing approx. (August 2024) Â£10 for 24hrs. It's worth buying a permit for the week as it is valid in other car parks in the whole of Torbay too for when you trip out. It's an easy flat walk from here (and you may get a glimpse of seals close to shore) back to the harbour and the cottage is accessed via a flight of steps on the street corner. It's a charming, tiny cottage with everything you need, including wifi. A word of caution - the stairs are tricky and the door frames very low! I sliced some skin off the top of my head on one of them! As the stairs are spiral, it's best to come down the last steps backward, like a ladder. The first floor contains the bedrooms and bathroom. The top floor is the living space with an amazing view of the harbour but again be careful when taking up cups of tea due to the stairs. Having said that, we soon got the hang of it! All in all, it's an excellent home-from-home with plenty of nearby places to eat and shop, including supermarkets."
