"One of the most thoughtfully designed hotels I’ve stayed in. I felt simultaneously at home and like I was having a luxury hotel experience. Well stocked room with great selection of optional extras such as early check in— much appreciated after an overnight international flight. Great location with proximity to all the main attractions. "Location is great. It is walking distance to everything you would want to see. We were not informed which day we would have a room cleaning, or even if we would. Some communication would have been appreciated as they removed items that they assumed were garbage but we had wanted to keep. Scotland meals are expensive everywhere, but with us staying for 8 days, we felt the cost for breakfast was a wee bit high for the breakfast they served. Perhaps include it in the cost of the room instead..preferably at a lower rate. Overall though, the facilities were clean, lovely old stone building and close to the Royal Mile which is what we wanted."

"This "comfortable cottage" is actually a row house with minimal amenities. It was very clean, although having an extra mattress leaning against the wall in the smallest bedroom made at least that room feel cluttered and cramped. The comfort factor was also decreased by the lack of any trash cans on the second floor, including in the bathroom. We had to collect our trash in a small pile at the top of the steps and remember to carry it to the single trash can in the kitchen each day. My biggest complaint however is that the house was rather cold when we first arrived and we had no ability to adjust the temperature since the thermostat was locked and required a PIN code. In spite of multiple messages exchanged with the management, I was never given this PIN and ultimately we just accepted the temperature setting as it was. I would not stay here again."

"The location of this hotel is great it’s in a very walkable area very close to plenty of attractions/activities. Breakfast was okay for the amount you pay the restaurant is alright. The room could use some work there were stains on the carpet and the curtains and the shower wasn’t the cleanest. However we spent most of our time out walking around Edinburgh. Staff was helpful and friendly."

"The hotel had four floors. One was below grade one at grade and two above grade. There was no elevator. Carrying luggage upstairs could be a problem for older people. We used the luggage storage before we checked in. It was nice but using the electronic lock system was a hassle. The room was very nice and spacious. The TV was a bit small. The bathroom was very nice. It had a large soaking tub and a big shower. Our room was in the basement so we had to keep the blinds closed because people could see in there when they walked by. Staff could’ve left more coffee. Generally, there was only one pod per person. The location was pretty good. It was in between two different tram stations in Leith and there were coffee shops and bakeries nearby. Many restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Overall, the area was nice. It was about a 15 minute tram ride to the old town District of Edinburgh. The area was not nearly as crowded as Edinburgh."
