The staff was absolutely amazing. The onsen is lovely, the food is great, and the views are fantastic. This was our splurge of the trip and it was worth every penny.

Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast! Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding. Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...

What an amazing Ryokan right in the heart of Tokyo! It's both less expensive and nicer than other ryokans in Asakusa. From the tea room to the incredible staff, to the gorgeous, modern rooms, definitely consider staying here instead of a normal hotel next time you're in the area. Their reservable open-air bath with the Skytree view is something else. We splurged on this hotel and it was magical! They offer a free shuttle from the train station, super easy to get to from Tokyo. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful once you get in! We got the private onsen room, that had a lovely view of Mt. Fuji from the window seat (love the window seat) and the onsen. Dinner came with the room and it was an incredible 10 course tasting menu (with vegetarian/vegan options). Also included was access to the lounge with the best massage chair ever, snacks...

Staffs spoke fluent English and are super communicative. Overall great experience, scenery of the onsen is amazing. Just want to highlight though, when we used the shuttle bus to arrive at the Gora Station, bus driver didn’t really help to carry the luggages down which is fine, just feels a bit weird to see the contrast before and after leaving the hotel. Overall, hospitality 9.5/10.

Traditional high end old school ryokan.

A unique experience! Comfortable, very clean, and the staff were very hospitable. The onsen were very relaxing. Most notable was the food—absolutely stunning presentation and very interesting (we are new to Japanese food). The ryokan is on the quieter side of town but it’s still possible to walk to the attractions, especially on the path beside the lake.

The hotel itself was well maintained and the private open-air onsen (hot spring) in the room cannot be beat. The staff were helpful and courteous, and the dinner and breakfast menu was delightfully delicious. Overall it was a very memorable stay, unfortunately it was raining during our stay so we didn't leave the hotel to explore the surrounding area. Very approachable for a more cultural, traditional experience. Was very easy for an American foreigner like myself to have a truly authentic experience. We stayed here with our four-year-old and had a wonderful time. They provided child robes and meals and everyone was so kind. Free coffee and tea downstairs and amazing baths in the rooms! Would definitely return.

I love the hotel. Tsukino is an interesting and successful synthesis of traditional ryokan atmosphere with modern facilities. While my room comes with TV, fridge, western-style couch, a king sized bed, and a modern bathroom, the rest of the decoration is Japanese in style. The room also comes with a tube in the balcony.
