"This hotel is an experience. It's an isolated location on a mountain side, but the hotel decor is almost a museum and worthy of being a destination in itself. "The Onsen were wonderful. And on the whole, this ryokan felt very nice. However, we would NOT recommend eating there. The dinner was very expensive and very poor quality. The tempura was old and had been cooked 2 or 3 days ago. Each dish was pretty vile. Also there was a family in the room above ours with extremely noisy children and we could hear everything. Other than that, it was a lovely place "

Although it is a little out of the way and up an incline, there are multiple frequent transport options and even a shuttle bus which can take you back and forth from Gora Station. "5 minutes walk from Souzan station, place was quiet with 2 onsens. Onsen are rotated every 12 hours. Kaiseki styled Dinner and breakfast were provided as there is very limited food option in Hakone area and most public transport end at 5pm"

"We had the best experience, started as soon as we arrived at the hotel until we left. Food was great, had a private hot spring room everyday. Initially we were concerned about convenience of transportation. Hotel stuff sent and picked us up from nearby places and bus stops. The only less than perfect thing is the weather, raining everyday during our stay. But it gives the perfect reason and motivation to come back.
