"Campton Kiyomizu is a traditional Japanese hotel conveniently located in the old town center of Kyoto. There was a near-by grocery store open 24 hours, which we frequented, and taxis were always available. The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, and all areas were very clean. It even had a washing machine. They gave us comfortable pajamas which we ended up purchasing. "We really enjoyed staying in a real house in a real neighborhood for our trip to Kyoto. There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. The bed in the second bedroom is on the floor, which isn't a bad thing considering this is an authentic experience,...

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes. However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though. The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...
