"I spent a great time with my family, including my two kids, at the Barceló Palace. After lots of research, this hotel was the perfect choice! The pools were clean, the food was amazing with plenty of variety, and the dinner restaurants were excellent. The beach had crystal-clear water and no seaweed, though not as blue as Cancún. Some open areas like the lobby lacked strong A/C, but it was manageable. Lots of shopping options inside the hotel made everything convenient."

Umbertto, Ramses, and Luna were so much fun and led great pool activites....the nightly shows were fantastic. We always sat in Alberto's section in the buffet, he always had our usual drinks at the ready and shared some great laughs with us as we tried (and failed many times) to learn more Spanish. There will always be room for improvement at any establishment, but if the staff can make you forget about minor inconveniences and keep you smiling, its worth the trip every time. "

"Great property, nicely setup and well taken care of. Common areas are fantastic, with touch of luxury and authenticity. Food is nothing special, average at best, but the restaurants setup is really nice. If you like activities, the staff is not that interested in summoning people in to participate, there is not an active engagement to get few people in to play volleyball or stretch. If you are there, you're there, if no one shows up they leave. Service is wonderful, rooms are great. Beach is super nice, but seaweed is unbearable, like in all areas of that coast. Water is brown. I am a beach person and dont like swimming pools, yet couldn't force myself to go into the water, it was that bad. Yet again, it is not a property issue, it is a regional issue at large. Outside areas are nice and safe to walk. There is a small shopping plaza right across and Playa Del Carmen is 25 minutes away walking. Cab is $10 each way. The whole area is safe and fun to walk around. The whole Playacar area is gated, and the hotel is double gated. We had a great time."
