Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

8/10 Good
"We have stayed at the Barcelo Palace resort for the last 15+ years. The resort is very well maintained and the Palace pool is the largest I have ever seen in person. You never feel crowded as there is a lot of space to move around between the swim up bar, bubbler, and lounging cabanas. Our rooms are always clean and the air conditioning works wonderfully. Keep in mind this is a large resort and some rooms are a long walk to the buffet and pool areas. On our last trip this past July, we realized they no longer have irons in the room. For some this may not matter but for those that it does, bring along a travel iron. I also noticed wash cloths are not given unless asked for. Not a major concern but still a bit odd they are not automatically included. Our only 'challenge' was making reservations for a la carte restaurants. It was difficult to make a reservations for a time earlier than 9:30pm in certain restaurants and others were not available the entire week. We made it work and do not have an issue with the buffets so it did not spoil our trip. Overall, my family loves this resort. We go every other year and always have a more positive than negative experience. The beach is absolutely beautiful! Seaweed is hit or miss but that is not the resort's fault. They do a wonderful job to clean as much as possible. Definitely give it a chance, you will love it!"

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen Adults Only All Inclusive

10/10 Excellent
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Solo Stay at Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen I traveled alone to Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen, and I can honestly say the staff made my experience very special. From the moment I walked through the entrance, I felt welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of. What impressed me most was that the kindness wasn't limited to one department. From the staff welcoming guests at the entrance, front desk, housekeeping, bartenders, servers, restaurant staff, entertainment team, and everyone working behind the scenes in the kitchen—the service was wonderful throughout the entire resort. As a woman traveling alone, feeling comfortable and welcomed was especially important to me. The staff made it easy for me to relax and enjoy my vacation. I never felt awkward sitting, eating, or spending time by myself. Instead, I felt like the staff genuinely cared whether I was enjoying my stay. I also want to recognize the employees guests don't always see or remember to mention. The people cleaning, preparing food, maintaining the resort, and working in the kitchen are just as important to the experience. From the entrance all the way to the kitchen, the entire staff deserves recognition. Thank you to everyone at Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen for making my solo trip so enjoyable. Your kindness, hospitality, and hard work did not go unnoticed. I left with wonderful memories and would definitely return. ❤️🌴🇲🇽"

"Nice place, will get the job done. I'm a beach person, so the lack thereof was a huge turnoff; I would not be inclined to go back because of that. I did not care for the animals, but the kids loved them lol. Lovely gym, I went every morning. Like most resorts, the buffet is always good. My initial room had a dented and slanted bed. Very weird bed, very uncomfortable, gave me the ick. The staff was great at getting me a new room quickly, though, which is why I gave them 5 stars; very nice staff. Restaurant reservations are The Hunger Games, and there is an upcharge at every location for many, many things. This is my 3rd all-inclusive in Mexico now though, and they all have upcharges like this, so okay. Again, we went to the staff for help with booking for restaurants, as the app was always full, so more praise for them. The resort is long, rather than wide, if that makes sense. They have trains that take you from one end to the other; you can stop where you need. They do come in handy and for the most part, we were able to get seats. Sometimes, we would just walk, it's quite the walk lol, but we got used to it. I need a beach. I also need a nicer room, sink was clogged, the toilet was leaking, some food served spoiled, and I do not care for so many upcharges. But this is a 4-star, not a 5, from what I'm understanding, and that is probably the difference I'm feeling. My kid had fun, it was her birthday, but she said she preferred the all-inclusive in Jamaica last year."
