"For the price, Colorbox is a good option to stay close to Tulum (the hotel is located15 km north of the city), the Maya ruins of Coba, and various beaches. It's clean and no frills (no closet or dresser, or even a single hook). You get a clean and comfortable bed and a good shower with hot water. While close to the highway (and you hear it), the property itself is quiet and appeared safe. Note that there are no lock boxes in the rooms and we opted to have valuables with us at all times. "NOT AS ADVERTISED. I arrived and was told I couldn't check in despite calling ahead that I would be a bit late. When I was finally given a bed the room was dirty, the bathroom moldy, and the sheets had a very strong smell that made me itchy. The room had no running AC, only a fan that was as loud as a helicopter. The room was significantly hotter than the temperature outside by morning. The central pool was under construction so only a small part of the courtyard by the bar was accessible. When...

"Overall poor hygiene. Breakfast was included but didn’t look appetising and flies buzzing round the fruit, hot cakes were cold and not covered up. The ‘cook’ wasn’t trained. our private room was basic- nowhere to put stuff except on floor, nowhere to hang towel in bathroom. Friend in dorm had bed bugs."

"Hands down the greatest place I stayed on this trip. Great people, great staff, great location, great pool, great room. For those who love TV's, there was not a TV in our room, didn't need one. We walked across the street to the Tulum ruins, then floated in the pool. The restaurant has more than one CHEF, very talented, think outside the box chef. I recommend if you are an adventurous eater or not you try what they recommend. I loved their vegetarian version of Ceviche. I cannot say enough about...
